Eat Well Play Hard
Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings (EWPHCCS) is an initiative funded through the New York State Department of Health. The program was developed to help prevent childhood obesity. The goals of EWPHCCS are to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, increase low fat dairy consumption and increase age-appropriate physical activity among preschoolers, their families and caregivers.
The Capital District Child Care Council has been funded to offer this program in Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington counties. This program is coordinated by three Registered Dietitians. Child care centers are selected based on specific criteria and need. Six lessons are conducted for 3-5 year old children and six more lessons are specifically designed for parents. Child care center staff who participate in EWPHCCS receive continuing education credit.
Contact the Capital District Child Care Council with any questions by calling 518.426.7181, or emailing MaryEllen Gugie.
